Spells; Lesser Summon Changeling & Greater Summon Changelingauthor: Gary L. Ray Summon Changeling, GreaterLevel: Clr 7, Drd 7, Sor/Wiz 8 As Summon Changeling, Lesser, but there is no time limit the creature has been dead. Also, the changeling ability damage is of temporary, not permanent type. Summon Changeling, LesserNecromancy [Evil] DescriptionWith this spell, you bring back a dead humanoid into a living fetus, provided that its death occurred no more than one week before the casting of the spell and the subject's soul is free and willing to return. If the subject's soul is not willing to return, the spell does not work; therefore, a subject that wants to return receives no saving throw. Successfully casting this spell releases the soul of the fetus in exchange for the changeling (the pregnant humanoid gives the birth in due time). It is therefore an evil act. MechanicsThe subject of the spell reaches maturity (and previous level or hitdice minus one) in 10 days taking 1d6 permanent ability damage to each ability due to extreme shock of quickened growing. Afterwards, the subject of the spell ages at an accelerated rate of 100 years per each calendar year (the aging effect takes place on the last night of the year). The accelerated aging can be halted (effectively, the creature does not age) provided the subject of the spell bathes regularly once at month in a blood of a properly sacrificed and blooded sentient creature. If the month without the bath passes, the aging effect resumes at even faster pace of 100 years per month for every month the subject creature the creature used bath to prevent aging effects (the aging effect takes place on the last night of the month). If the changeling dies of old age, his flesh quickly crumbles to dust leaving skeleton behind. A creature that has been turned into an undead creature or killed by a death effect can't be returned to life by this spell. Constructs, elementals, outsiders, and undead creatures can't be summoned as changelings. The spell can bring back a creature who has died of old age. However, a changeling of a creature who died of the old age is much weaker than the original - the maximum level (hitdice) regained is decreased by 10 (should that bring level or hitdice total to zero or below, the spell fails). Spell components: Onyxes worth 5000 GP and a bone from a creature to be
brought back.
